Tailor-made Comfort solutions for the University of Turin
THE UNIVERSITY OF TURIN in Italy is one of the oldest in Europe, originally dating back to 1404. Around 70,000 students, an noteworthy number of Nobel laureates and a prominent role within research and higher education means that the university is growing constantly. A large expansion is currently under way, comprising seven major buildings whose most important attributes include energy effi ciency, functional solutions and a good indoor climate.
“When we were commissioned to develop an indoor climate solution for the complete extension work, we immediately contacted Lindab to discuss a suitable indoor climate solution,” explains engineer Marco Lazzerini at Sinergie, one of Italy’s leading building installation consultants. “It has taken time to arrive at a complete solution, but with the help of Lindab’s design software for chilled beams, TEKNOsim, and full-scale testing at Lindab in Farum, we now have a solution that meets the customer’s requirements.”
Since August, around 500 specially designed Premax chilled beams have been delivered along with 500 Architect chilled beams with integrated lighting. The entire installation is expected to be ready by the start of 2012. “We have already had a positive experience with Lindab, their expertise and technical capability,” concludes Marco Lazzerini. “Lindab’s ability todeliver customised solutions with quality, flexibility and continuous technical support is really important to us. The chilled beam solution that we are now in the process of delivering also provides a lower energy consumption, all in keeping with the customer’s wishes.”
